Current Temperature in St. Jakob : -16 degrees (-13 degrees last night) - tendency to fall. If everything is as planned to be there in the night on Friday -25 degrees measured. A clear long night (18 h darkness), little wind, arctic air and snow covered surfaces are the basic requirements. But to do that later. The climate is alpine in Defereggental, one would say. Because of its east-west orientation and its geometry, it is subject to extreme seasonal fluctuations: Extrema of +32.1 degrees and -29.8 degrees represent a potential annual variation of 61.9 degrees!
What awaits Vladivostok : currently -21 degrees, in the coming nights, but to level -30 to it. The amazing thing about Vladivostok: it lies at sea level and is situated on the same latitude as Florence. Would it be in the city of the Medici as cold, if it were almost over with the glory of David. Would be -30 degrees in Florence conceivable? Unlike in St. James and Vladivostok: both are in the same Climate: humid continental (average summer temperature is 21-28 degrees, winter means below -3 degrees) with a mild summer (DFB). Looking at the extremes of Vladivostok, the result is +33.6 and -31.4 with a potential annual cycle of 65 degrees!

The absolute record is the way in the cold Antarctic desert. In Vostok, a Russian research station (why were called so ...?) 21 Juli 1983 to 89.4 degrees measured. The Austrian record low is -37.4 degrees on Sunday view, however, in 3104 m altitude. In populated areas, the records are significantly higher:
